THE DIVINE MOTHER
by Catherine Adams

The Divine Feminine has been pushed out of human cultures as humans have focused on left brain issues and achievement in the world. We have created an imbalance between the masculine and feminine principles. The Divine Feminine has to do with mystery, the unknown, the dark recesses of consciousness, the source and end of life, the circle of life, the wholeness of being and simply just BEING, rather than conquering and achieving. However, she is coming back into our cultures as we look for balance in our way of being in the world.

The Divine Mother that I am speaking of in this article is the Christian or Bodhisatva expression of divine, compassionate love.

From my experiences of doing clairvoyant healing, teaching classes and doing healings, I have come to realize that the Divine Mother accompanies those who do compassionate service in helping and healing the earth, animals or people. Remember, even if you give stray animals a safe home, the Divine Mother is there. That work is the work of heaven.

The Divine Mother might send you the smell of roses as she has done for me or send an image of one or more roses to you. There is also a fragrance she gives that I call the "scent of heaven." It smells like sugar cookies baking, or the sweetgrass that the northern plains native people burn. What does she do for you?

The Divine Mother works on your heart chakra and helps you reach the heart chakras of others. When she touches your heart, it can be painful. The pain is the forced opening of your heart, which closed a little with each emotional injury in your life. You cannot do compassionate service and have a closed heart. You may think you have an open heart, but unless you have had the Divine Mother touch your heart, you have no idea how open it actually is. When you work with her, you will find that there is no right or wrong essentially, or perfect way to do things. Things just are, and love permeates and surrounds all. Love is the transcendental healer and the Divine Mother has the capacity to love all. By working with her, you bring yourself and others into harmony with the planet and the cosmos.

What is an open heart?

Being human predisposes us to close our hearts. We as a species are often reduced to our sheepish ways of doing what is safe, which means turning a cold shoulder to others. We learn that because of cold shoulders being turned to us. It is hard work opening the heart to the way it was when you were born. It is important to have safe boundaries, but that does not include being cruel to yourself or others.

An open hearted person has a bit of naivete and innocence. She laughs openly when things are funny. He listens carefully to others and does not make fun of them. She might be a bit too trusting and generous. He is optimistic and always believes the best will work out. She knows that animals can talk to us if we would only listen. He is always a student because nothing is ever finished or perfect, rather all is always becoming. She notices the little things like field flowers opening after the first rain of spring. He sees the rainbows in the sky while he is driving to work. She is always willing to love. He knows that everything is a paradox: Light and dark are part of the same situation, and yet all is held in love.

How do you bring the Divine Mother into your life? You can call her anytime, but all you have to do is begin to help others out of the goodness of your heart and you can be sure she is right there over your shoulder.
